Nice site. I have to admit most of the Rialto years passed me by as I was a Kinky Machine fan. Rediscovered Louis at a London gig night that also featured Jim Bob of Carter USM and Jake Shillingford of My ife Story. Enjoying the solo album and hoping I'll get the chance to catch a gig next time I'm in London.

Rialto - what a band tat was. What a shame they never get the success they deserved. But the good die early. I was not really a frined of Louis doin solo work - it was a lil boring in my ears. Maybe his new works will be energized again as - there is no doubt - he was one of the masterminds of rialto. But what a shame he never ever is updating his guestbook. What is he doin. If I would have true fans - i would try to give them a sign of life from time to time. Wake up Louis - before its too late. Great site - funny - fans have more power doin such great work as the artists have. Sometimes I dont get the planet... kindly regarding, tom

Amazing to see how well Franz ferdinand and other similar groups are doing with a sound and image that is basically Rialto circa 1999. Timing is everything but maybe it's time for Louis to put the acoustic up in the loft, dust off the electric and fly Jonny in from Spain

Hey ya, great job with the website! It’s really nice to come across a highly informative Rialto site! Sort of grabbed hold of their first album when it first came out, but it was kidnapped from me and I never saw it again. I recently got myself a new copy, and am now re-living the calming yet exhilirating tunes (Rialto is living proof that it is not mutually exclusive!) – I ADORE Milk of Amnesia! I hope they come up with more albums, I think they’re one of the most underrated bands ever since The Verve.

Great site, it’s nice to see something comprehensive on this vastly underated band! I’ll be adding a link on my site shortly. At least Louis is still releasing music since the demise of the band/their good fortune.
I host a radio show here in the US called the Indie Shop. Since it appears the single is no where to be found (after searching on-line for close to an hour) I’ll be sure to order the lp and playlist list it as soon as it’s released. Until than you can hear some of his solo work as well as other great brit/indie music on the show… just check the playlist….
And as ALWAYS, we make every effort to play requests!
Enjoy the holidays.

Nice to see the very under-rated Rialto being remembered! I live in South Korea and the band seem to have had a few hits over here. Monday Morning 5.19 still gets played on the radio every now and then and its also one of the few hundred US/UK ‘pop songs’ which are on all the karaoke machines.
When I first arrived here (late 2000) I remember seeing a Rialto video on TV which featured a Korean actress – anyone know anything about that? I think the song was called Catherine’s Wheel but not sure. Was it a special Korean-only release? I remember being quite surprised as I knew they had been dropped from their label in England.

Hi sugar, if www.townsend-records.co.uk don’t have it (and I believe they sold out) then I don’t know what to suggest other than eBay. Townsend were the sole distributors when the EP came out. If it’s any consolation, all four EP tracks WILL appear on the Louis’ debut solo album, now scheduled for early 2004.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed the site. That’s sad news about the official site, though. I checked online to see who the domain was registered to - it’s Rise Management. Their renewal date was October 7, 2003, and I guess they didn’t want to pay to renew it. As always happens with “lapsed” domains, they’re scooped up by some bottom-feeding company who hopes to “sell” the domain back to the original owner at an extortionate price. (That actually happened to a friend who owned the official Alisha’s Attic Fan Club site).

What happened to the official rialto website? It seems beeing given up and the domain beein sold to any domain trader. Can this be true. Is this the real end, the “final curtain” of one of the most talented brillaint bands that ever existed and made my musical life so much brighter?
i hope we wil get better news soon, and i never, never will give up my hope in a new rialto album. quality must have success in the long run. if anyone of u has the chance to promote rialto stuff, do so. pass ure wishes to the radio stations, tell ure friends and BUY their records. maybe late succes can bring our idols back to the stage.

Well, I just hear about rialto 1 month ago. I meet an old girlfriend, and she ask me if I’ve hear Rialto. When I said no she gave me a tape and I… Wow! this is a real band! I thought that Morrissey lyrics where neat, but I feel much more confortable with this. I mean I was a lonely boy uuntil I got my girl friend, but now when I meet this first old one, I return to my very introspective sadness. Monday Morning almost tear me apart. I feel exactly the same louis tells. Well, I’d really like to know more about Rialto, and that’s why this page is very nice. Also as a designer I can tell this page’s simply and clean design is very inspirating. Cheers to everyone, R.

Wow, a site featuring two of my favourite singers, Jake (MLS/ExileInside) and Louis (Rialto/Kinky Machine). I got to see them both last week when they played at the launch of a tiny London acoustic venue (Betsey Trotwood in Farringdon). I thought the new songs by Louis were excellent. They’re available on an EP called Everybody Loves You When You’re Dead. I wasn’t that keen on the ExileInside stuff. A computer that keeps crashing mid-song just isn’t the same as a 12 piece orchestra. Keep up the good work on the site.

A message for Louis as I haven’t seen you around: There is a job as laundry-folding-person going in the launderette, but we cant keep the position open for you for very long, so please let me know whether you are still interested?

I had first heard Rialto on the radio in 1998 and they were playing “When we’re together”. At that time, “Manic Street Preacher – The Everlasting” was popular, too and I had confused them with M.S.P. until I heard “Monday Morning 5:19”. Now they released “Night On Earth” and each song in it is good, but especially “Catherine’s Wheel”, “London Crawling” and “Deep Space” are outstanding. So all in all, Rialto is my favourite band in 2002.

Thank you for this Rialto site, the point of which, I think is to promote a great band. Night on Earth is so full of amazing pop songs that when I put it on “random” there’s no need to skip any tracks! Rialto is about being alienated and stylish. Every song on their albums would be a single for another band. Fans like you will help them to succeed.

You created a wonderful site for a great band. Too bad this site is better/greater than Rialto’s commercial achievements. I do hope they’ll record more albums. Or for now: at least one. Caroline, keep up the good work (That’s what Americans say. Isn’t it?) Stefan
