Peach. How I miss Peach!

I heard of Peach through Erasure and went bezerk collecting everything that Mute put out by Peach. The sound is incredible.

Great website!!!!

Very happy to find this site and learn more about the group that's produced the only album on which I have liked every single track. Like others, sad to see Peach (Union) is no more; even sadder to learn Lisa Lamb has gone corporate, founding a company devoted to "sonic branding". Seems somehow anti-climactic...

Hi Caroline, I haven't been here in quite a while, but I found something at Half Price Books this morning that reminded me of this lovely website: a pristine "Hush" promo CD (only costed me $1!), the same one you have listed in your Peach disography. I was so excited, needless to say LOL. Keep up the excellent work here!

I remembered a song that goes like "give me a reason for staying... from this moment on", which I remembered to like as a teenager, and I found this great website of a great band that I wish I knew better before. "From this moment on" brings me so many good and bad memories that I almost started to cry while listening. Thank you very much for this website!

Hey Caroline. I tried to email you but I don't know if you got it or not. I wanted to share with you some websites you may or may not be aware of. Of course you know about Paul's website, PaulStatham.com. Pascal's website is melophobia.com. Also, Paul and Pascal both have Myspace pages. Myspace.com/paulstatham and myspace.com/pascalgabriel.

There is a soundtrack to my life that allows me to relive the most vivid and memorable experiences of my 26 years....On My Own is more than just a song I fell in love with when I was 18....the music is a part of what makes me....me.

I first saw a promo of Peach's On My Own single early in 1998 and, after playing it, bought literally every cd I could find. I got the Audiopeach album in the summer of that year and took it on holiday to Newquay in Cornwall with me at a time when I had to split up with my boyfriend. He was a lovely guy but not for me, we remained good friends and Audiopeach was our album of that summer. Even now hearing the tracks brings back such warm vivid memories of those sunny days. I went on to get Sorrow Town and countless copies of every single I could find and at first inflicted them on my friends, who now love the tracks and treasure the cds I passed to them.
I do wish Peach had been able to continue as a band and a new track would be much appreciated and loved. But, I am glad I have all the music from this band and a lot of mixes, and can say I love every track on their album. ps Saint Etienne are a band in a similer vein who I have loved since I was at school in 1993 (Due to the track Who Do You Think You Are?)and are still going strong in 2006, check them out and you maybe able to love them too. If Ex Peach band members still check out this site, then Hi, and thank you for some quality tunes. Also thank you to the creator of this site, it is amazing. ALL my love Lewis xxx

I just went to a new CD store today and found the Peach Union CD in the bargain bin. As a Billy MacKenzie fanatic, this was the first time I had seen the disc and it features some of his last backing vocals before his sad demise, so naturally I picked it up. After listening to the first 2 tracks, quite frankly, I could care less if Mr. MacKenzie were present on this disc. I'm of course very familiar with Messrs. Gabriel and Statham [I'm also a big B-Movie & Peter Murphy fan] but this is sterling electro-pop with great vocals no matter how you slice it. I knew of the disc but had no idea of the pedigree of the members until buying it. I just wish I hadn't waited 9 years to buy it!

Today I watched the movie "Sliding Doors" starred by Gwyneth Paltrow, and I found your song "On my own" was sung by a Japanese artist named Izam. Izam sang "on my own" of Japenese version in TV drama ±f°È¤G½Ò(Sorry, I don't know the English title), and the song title of Japenese version is ¯Àª½ÇQÇeÇeÇN(sung by IZAM with ASTRAL LOVE).

Caroline, what a fantastic site you have assembled here. I was searching the web for something else, but one diversion led to another and I eventually found myself here. What a pleasant surprise... The first time I heard "On My Own" I had just split up with a boyfriend, and the song became my new mantra. I found strength in the lyrics and the upbeat melody seemed to promise better days ahead. Even now, Peach Union continues to be one of the most played artists on my iPod. Thanks for the in-depth look at one of my favorite '90s bands.

Wow, I have been searching for a website about Peach Union for a few years now. I've yielding nothing until today. I am very impressed with this site. It is surely long overdue. It bites that one of the best bands of the 90s only made one album. ...Similar to the tradegy of the group Mandalay. A sophomore effort would have been simply incredible. Audiopeach is definitely one of my most prized albums in my collection.

Only just found this site, and was fascinated to read the story of what has been happening in Lisa's life. I was privileged to know Lisa before the formation of Peach, and first heard her singing in the basement of the Pizza Express in Dean Street, Soho, London (at that time a renown music venue). Also went to see hear singing in a much more downmarket, but in many ways more enjoyable venue, at the Amersham Arms in New Cross, South East London, at which time I remember she was living nearby. Although I did buy a couple of the Peach CDs, I have otherwise totally lost contact with her. Indeed about the last thing was going to be a photo session with Lisa and myself for her American photographer friend Zoe, which sadly never actually took place. If you are still in contact with Lisa, I would very much appreciate it if you could pass on my e-mail address to her, as it would be lovely to make contact again after all these years. Just remind her I was the big fat chap (and there has been no change to that)!!

I just discovered this website today and am very sad to learn that Peach Union are no longer together. I discovered them in 1998 and bought the cd as soon as I could find a copy. I play it often and love it. Talent like they have does not come along often in the music business today. I was hoping they were still together and working on a new album, but I guess it's not meant to be. Well, at least now I know what is going on with them and wish them the best in whatever they pursue in life.

FYI Lisa (then Lissa) spent some time in the U.S. in her teens and we were in high school together. I had the distinct pleasure of kissing Lissa over several hours one night. Assuming you must be quite a fan of hers, I can assure you that even at the tender age of 15 she merited such devotion.

I was lucky enough to see Peach at The Forum in Kentish Town when they supported Erasure back in about ’97. And I saw Lisa at a few other pre-Peach “jazz” gigs around London in the mid 90s. I think she had one of the finest female voices I have ever heard.

Hola:
¿Alguna ves han escuchado a Waltz for Debbie?

Hi everyone—I LOVE this website. It’s so nice to see somebody is keeping the spirit of Peach Union alive on the net. My suggestion to Mute is to reissue the “Audiopeach” LP along with any extra tracks that were recorded for the 2nd unfinished album—and issue “Deep Down Together” as a single with remixes—the clubs would LOVE it! I also have a question—I’ve been wanting to order the import (non USA) disc of ’Audiopeach’ because I’ve read that the import version has extra bonus tracks. Can anybody who owns this tell me what the tracks are, and if the liner notes are different and if it’s worth spending $40+ on. Also, if you love Peach Union and the artists that were popular during that year, please join my yahoo group :) Thanks, and if somebody can answer my question, email me :)

Hi Michael, glad you enjoyed the site! Believe it or not, I have contemplated a Scarlet web tribute in the past, but I know very little about the band so it would essentially be a glorified online discography. The one Scarlet resource I know about is given below, click on my name and it will take you to the link. The site discography is far from complete, and does not have all the singles or show any of the sleevees, and the band bio is truncated—they don’t mention that in the Haven Records era there was a third Scarlet member called Joanna Fox. So in the interests of completeness I may yet put up a site. Keep checking back, if I do I’ll announce it here.
