Hello MLS lovers....

I think (if I can find it) that I have a radio 1 live recording on minidisk (which should be mp3able) of empire line and if you can't live without me.... may be one or 2 others as well. I am looking for any tracks that appear on vinyl that DON'T appear on cd (as I have all cd's but funny ha ha). Particularly want to here 'home sweet zoo'. Can you help? Can I help you?

Also any live recordings or video footage you fine people may have. Willing to trade/share.

Got to see them on the south coast many times and have seen both the London reunions. The people at the merch desk said that Jake has ideas about doing 1 or 2 MLS events a year, so here's hoping! Logistically difficult but not impossible. Don't think we have heard the last of them and I would also bet there will be some kind of new material at some point. It's just a hunch though. They are great.

Nice site - I hadn't seen it before.

We're off to see the second 2006 reunion gig tonight at the London Astoria, and I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the new b-sides album: 40 tracks of MLS goodness! If anyone else is coming tonight - see you at the front!

We are off to the Mean Fiddler reunion gig next friday - we can't wait to see Jake and all the Orchestra again. All together now.... '12 reasons why, 12 reasons why I wrote this love song, it's off the cuff, I write it down, a shopping list of love'.

Am really tragically ancient and wrinkly these days but I can't wait to revisit my well-spent youth following MLS all around the country.

I saw MLS on the NME Maker Shaker tour with Goya Dress and Drugstore in 94/95 (long time ago please forgive me) and was blown away. I saw them at the Reading festival a couple of times and back in Portsmouth once more. Great band and i'm glad there is a site like this still going.

I still have the Mornington Crescent CD and a load of early picture dics. Glad to see so many people here who remember the band.

Hello! This is a very nice site. Very helpful. I love My Life Story, they are my 7th. Favourite Band of all times:). It’s cool I can still find info about them considering I "discovered" them at about 2 years ago! and I could buy one of their CDs and a single last year. It was a miracle! Because it’s very dificult to find anything of them round here. Anyway, I enjoyed looking around your site. Congratulations:).

My Life Story are one of the great lost bands of the last decade. Fantastic live (complete with wind machine as I recall). Jake Shillingford was (is?) a great performer and the last album was criminally underrated. It’s a Girl Thing, Sunday Tongue, Empire Line, etc deserve continued listening. I’m listening to them now, as I often do, drunk and sad that they can no longer be heard live and have been heard as recordings by far fewer than they deserve. A toast to My Life Story. Cheers.

Hey – I saw MLS back in ’97 while in London. They were openers for Dr. Robert in a dockworkers benefit.

I’d never heard of them but loved the show. I’ll never forget the full wonderful sound of the cello and young girls bouncing around in the audience with glitter and glow sticks in their hands.

Jake was a great singer & I’m glad he’s still working on other projects.

I did not know much about My Life Story until I sat on a plane next to one of the band members (on 1 April 2003). I didn’t ask what her name is, but she said that she did some background vocals as well. So after looking at a few pictures of the band on the internet, I think it was Roxanna Shirley that I met… but I am not 100% sure. She said she is currently working at a performing arts school in London (ages 3 and up, to adult level). Everything she said about My Life Story was great, and she loved the experience.

Wow, a site featuring two of my favourite singers, Jake (MLS/ExileInside) and Louis (Rialto/Kinky Machine). I got to see them both last week when they played at the launch of a tiny London acoustic venue (Betsey Trotwood in Farringdon). I thought the new songs by Louis were excellent. They’re available on an EP called Everybody Loves You When You’re Dead. I wasn’t that keen on the ExileInside stuff. A computer that keeps crashing mid-song just isn’t the same as a 12 piece orchestra. Keep up the good work on the site.
