Finally my local library has the internet so i can post a message to you two girls and thankyou for your wonderful music! I have devoted my whole bedsit to Aa, decorating with posters and hand made knitted doll lookalikes of you both and constantly have an Aa classic playing in the background. To show my appreciation and love or your music i am currently trying to memorise all the words to the all illumina album songs... BACKWARDS... and plan to showcase this at the church talent contest next weekend!!! my cat, trevor assures me its a winning combination!
Thankyou for your musical talent! without it im sure i would not be the man i am today!

Yours faithfully

To my darling fellow AA worshippers,

Well, I thought it was time to give you all a little update of the life and times of Immelda. It has been difficult for me over the past few months - unfortunately due to the persecution I experienced in Sao Paulo I had to depart. Since then I have back packed through Iceland, have had a part time job picking scallops on the Orkney Islands, however after fate took over my life and I joined up to an internet dating agency, I have indeed ended up in Kabul. I am now living with the lady of my dreams; one who sees me for who I am, not just a post op transexual. It does not matter to her what shell I am. Indeed she too is a massive AA fan! We are madly in love and our own special song is 'the white room' because yes folks, it is my assylum, and I hang my hang ups outside the door. Please respond to me via this message board if you appreciate the song also....it is an inspiration to all of us. Let us salute Karen and Shelly and wish them a very happy retirement!

With all my love and best wishes,

Immelda x

HUGE new Shelly interview...

She's on the cover of the new issue of Wears The Trousers, a FREE online magazine for female musicians that can be found here: www.thetrousers.co.uk

She talks about the new album, about Alisha's Attic, about Jack Savoretti and loads of other stuff. You can either read it on the website or download a PDF of the whole issue at once... enjoy!

No, not iTunes! For 3 Reasons:

1- I want a proper CD that I can play wherever I want, not just on my iPod (Yes, I bought one! Surprised?)

2- iTunes does not allow importing, so if it's only released in the UK, it's not just a matter of paying in £, more expensive shipping and possibly customs duties like with Amazon or HMV, it's a matter of not being able to buy it AT ALL.

3- 128kbps MP4 is fine for CDs I don't care much about anymore and those I borrow from the library, but not for my favorite group! Aa deserve the 320kbps treatement.

Hey all,

Sorry for the lack of updates/replies to your messages ... still here, still busy! This last week I've been updating my own Shelly site - click on my name for the link or go to www.inspiracy.com/shelly. Full album news, and Shelly signed the guestbook there on Friday with an update.

Hi Listy, Jo, Paula, Martyn ... glad to see you're all still around. ;-) No news as yet on Vaults 2 - since Shelly told me that her album will be available on iTunes, I've suggested to her that she and Karen should put Vaults 2 on there which would solve manufacturing/distribution problems for them - I'll keep you posted on any news, never fear.

Stephanie - try eBay for cheap Aa CDs to fill in blanks in your back catalogue - they've got gobs of stuff, some of it dirt cheap. It's probably the only place to find Japanese Dream, too.

Love to everyone, and head on over to Shelly's guestbook to leave encouragement for her!

Hey Michael! you get around ;-) I will put up the single version of AWB this weekend. I'm not surprised to hear that "The Collection" does not feature the single version but is culled straight from the 1st album - that's the sort of lazy research/lack of attention to detail that hallmarks these budget line issues.

No further news Martyn ... however, the guy who runs the company that hosts Simon's sites is very difficult to deal with. He's held the domain names 'hostage' in the past when Simon's tried to switch to another webhost. Will update any news I get.

On another note, I've had a number of requests to update the jukebox with more songs, and today I've added ten more b-sides to the jukebox so help yourselves and enjoy!

Great site! Love the band still and want to know more, if you got it. And, even though this is a long shot, finding out what Karen and Shelley are up to now and whether they want some support!? (I told you it was a long shot!) I'm still avidly listening to their stuff and think it's influenced the band I'm in, so might well fit in if we played acoustic-wise.

Anyway, enough grovelling and worshipping! Great to see the re-vamped site. Must've taken ages. Keep up the good work!

Wow, I can't even tell you how much I love Alisha's Attic. I've loved them since the beginning, since I first heard "I Am, I Feel" on the radio. I remember recording it on a little cassette tape and playing it over and over again!

It was hard in the states because no one knew them... but I bought all their albums and tracked down as many of the b-sides as i could. Right now I have 66 songs!

When I first listened to the album Alisha Rules the World, it was the first album I had ever owned that I liked every single song on! To this day, I think that the first two Aa albums are the best produced pop albums of all time.

I only discovered this site last night and drained the b-sides. This is so amazing, to find an AA site with recent updats, plus amazingly done. Loads of detail and lots of info i never knew. Its a shame AA didnt get the credit they deserve buty in a way its better, we have something not many people have, and they didnt loose any artistic integrity like most succesful artists do.

I would love it if the jukebox was updated with more b-side, and the videos on here to download? that'd be so cool, id love 2 see all the videos.

Hi micheal, so nice of you to get in touch… your warmth and supporting tones overwhelm me in such a harsh, harsh world. If your’e ever in Sao Paulo, please dont hesitate to contact me, we can meet up for an Aa drink.
As for the 2nd vault cd, I hope every day that it’s in the pipeline… I guess all we can do is wait for our two pinnacles of musical talent to get in touch with us one… last… time.
p.s im in my study, jiving to 'alisha rules the world' as we speak…

All my love and best wishes,

Hi!
I think it must just be cos I'm dense but I can't work out how to successfully download stuff from the jukebox. I have all the commercial release albums and most of the singles but was after the stuff off the japanese releases that isn't available anywhere else (no one seems to be selling them on ebay or anywhere). Could you possibly email me instructions on how to download them if you have the time please? Think I entered my email address in this form

Hay, Immelda,

I read your message today and i just wanted to say, i feel the same as you - the song "i am i feel" has worked wonders for me also. I have over 97 songs by Aa, and the first is still the best.

I hope you find you happyness in Sao Paulo, i have been there and i loved it.

Kindest regards Michael

This is the best Aa site good work.

I was looking for new news about Shellie and Karen Poole you have the only upto date Aa site i think.
Anyway i think we could build a club around your site i like Shellie and Karen Poole very much.
I am also a big fan of female singers like Lisa Loeb, Indigo girls, Shawn Colvin, Jewel, sarah Mclachlan.
The US are lucky singers like them can make it in the world today. Singers like Shellie and Karen Poole just cant make it in the UK charts so nobody gets to know how good they are.
Jewels 2nd album sold 20 million in the US, nobody in the UK know who she is at all and she did not even get in to the top 40 in the UK… this is why it is so rare to find UK singers like Shellie and Karen Poole—real singers.
We are lucky people to like such good music

And so I find myself amongst others that have entered the attic and found what music should sound like. I’ve never seen the girls on TV, never seen them live either, but when you are listening to the music your imagination does the rest.In the car, full volume, just the way to educate the uninitiated and if they don’t like it – tough – show them the door marked EXIT!

Hi Caroline
Thanks for taking the time to put this site together. What a mine of information you have here. I run 3 sites myself and can understand how much time it takes to keep them running.
I found your site on a search of Google. I’d been out to the cinema this evening and was listening to the Spectrum "Collection" on the 30minute walk home. When I got in I had a look in my CD database for more info on them and came up blank so i’ve added some notes in courtesy of the information I found here.
You know it’s a real pity that Aa have largely disappeared these days. To me, they were a really decent pop group that were reminiscent of some of the bands that were prolific in the 80s.
Keep up the good work.
Love, Mick xxx

Hi Delphine, it certainly wouldn’t hurt to try any Virgin or HMV megastore that’s near you. If they don’t have it, they may be able to order it for you. If that doesn’t work, and you have a credit card, you can shop online for it. www.eil.com have a large back catalogue of Aa stuff, as do www.opalmusic.com. Or you can try eBay, which has Aa items very cheap, and they don’t always request payment by credit card. Barbara, glad you enjoyed the site, and I am glad to hear that Aa have fans as far away as Brazil! ;-)

Hi, my name is Barbara and I live in Brasil. I have to say that I have moments of music and now the moment is Alisha’s Attic. The only thing I can think is the band. I’ve known the girls since 1997, I think, when I saw the videoclip “I Am, I Feel” on MTV. They are not famous here and it is very difficul to find anything here… and I want something!! I have about 50 of their songs, but I want all and the videoclips too (I have "I am, I feel", I love it)!! I want to go to their show. Please, if somebody knows where I can find anything or just wanna chat to another Alisha’s Attic fan, my e-mail is meia_maluca@hotmail.com and my icq number is 99666661 (a good number, isn’t?). Hi Caroline, Great site – I bought the Amy Studt album today and after some stuff on it reminded me of AA, was really amazed to see Karen’s name in the credits, this got my curiosity going and ended up here. I think AA were the 90’s most underrated band. Really pleased that the girls are both doing well although disappointed that there won’t be any more AA stuff, anyway looking forward to hearing Shellys stuff and will keep abreast of what Karen is up to!! Keep up the good work. Could anyone let me know how to get hold of any video material from AA as I never really got to see them. Thanks

Hi Paul, thanks for the flattering comments! ;-) I too thought the liner notes to The Collection did them a disservice. Keep your eyes peeled on ebay for a copy of Japanese Dream— a few have popped up lately, and a week or so ago I managed to snag a copy for a friend for only $1.99!

I actually found this site by accident while looking for Lyrics to one of AA’s songs and was also looking to purchase a copy of "Japanese Dream but I can’t seem to find anyone that stocks it.
Today I actually found a copy of the AA Collection CD, the inlay makes some very derogatory remarks regarding there 3rd album saying they creative waned some what but I thought it was one of their best and they never got the credit they deserved.
I read on your message board that some people are looking to purchase AA albums especially the 3rd album. Most UK stockists sell it and probably ship over seas. Some sites to check out are ebay.co.uk and amazon.co.uk

Hey Caroline, Wonderful website. And like you, I’m originally from the UK but moved to the US nearly 3 years ago. Been out of the loop on Aa for a little and sad to hear that the girls are going their own ways. Oh well, there maybe some hope they’ll get back together and record another album one day!

Hey guys! Welcome back. :) To answer your question about the official Alisha’s Attic site, and for any other visitors who might have the same question: Simon’s alisharulestheworld.com/alishasattic.com site is down because his web hosting service never replied to any of his letters or emails about renewing his domain. So he’s currently looking for a new web host. In the meantime, if he has any news to pass along, I will feature it on the Angeleyes site. Thanks and we now return you to our regular comments. ;-)
